Golf GameBook
More fun, enjoyment and excitement in 2013!
I am excited to announce that The Tour Fore Golfers will be utilising Golf GameBook in 2013. This will no doubt add excitement and enjoyment to our golf events.
Using Golf GameBook is not compulsory but all golfers are encouraged to give it a try. Please read through the information below and follow the simple install instructions provided.
Golf GameBook is a pro quality mobile scorecard – extremely easy, intuitive and fast to use. If you already know how to use a smartphone (Iphone, Samsung, Andoid), you just press on your smartphone screen to enter scores – and follow your event as it unfolds with the live leaderboard – you’ll have hole-by-hole live leaderboards in the palm of your hand by just turning your smartphone vertical.
GameBook makes hole-by-hole live scoring available for all types of golf events. Players use the free Golf GameBook app to enter scores and to view the live leaderboards.
The Golf GameBook app is used by each group of players as a mobile scorecard to enter scores and to view live leaderboards. Players can also send comments to each other during the round. With extremely sophisticated user experience, GameBook is very simple to use – easier and faster than pencil and paper (although all golfers will still be required to complete a paper scorecard that be the official record of their game).
Instructions to install and use:
1. Download the GameBook App onto your smartphone. The App is free and available at the Apple, Android and Samsung App stores.
2. Register your details. This is an important and necessary step that only takes a minute.
3. Once registered you will be directed to the GameBook home screen. Click on the ‘join game’ option.
4. Enter the join code that will be provided each event via the player information email.
5. Click on the ‘create group’ option
6. Select a group (it is easiest if each golfer creates their own group until familiar with the software)
7. Click on the ‘Add Players’ tab.
8. Select your name from the list of registered users and then click ‘add’
9. Click ‘join’ and you are ready to go!
10. Enter your stroke scores for the relevant hole and this should convert to the appropriate game format – ie: Stableford. Turn your phone vertical to view the live leaderboard.
Other Important information
· While all golfers are encouraged to enter their score, it is possible for one player to use their phone to enter the group scores.
· It is simple, easy and quick to use. Should take less than 10 seconds to enter your scores after a hole. Please enter results at the appropriate time and never allow this feature to slow the pace of play.
· A golfers paper scorecard is the official document used to determine scores and results. It is essential that the paper scorecard is completed accurately and signed by both player and marker.
· While I hope that golfers will embrace this feature, it is possible that all golfers will not use it. If you are on top of the ‘online leaderboard’ please be aware that other players on course may have a better score. We will however have a special prize for our online leaderboard winner.
· It is strongly recommended that you register and ‘join game’ using the join game code provided in the player information email prior to the event. It will be difficult for me to provide technical support from me on the day of the event.
